Muhavre Time

On special request from someone special, I am putting another quiz. This one is much easier. I have drawn some literal representations of muhavres (Hindi proverbs). Try and identify them; have fun.

Please do not look at the comments column before you do your round of guessing; someone may already have answered by the time you visit, and you may lose interest.

  1. Thank you! This is fun :-)

    Here goes with my guesses:

    1. Ek teer se do shikaar
    2. ?
    3. Bagal mein chhura, moonh mein Ram-Ram
    4. Ek taraf kooaan aur doosri taraf khaai
    5. Chor ki daadhi mein tinka
    6. Kaala akshar bhains baraabar
    7. Ek myaan mein do talwaarein
    8. ?
    9. Meri billi mujhko hi meow
    10. ?
    11. Ek anar, sau beemaar
    12. Bhains ke aage been bajaana

(Which made me think: buffaloes seem to be popular in Hindi proverbs, hai na? There's also jiski laathi uski bhains)

Am looking forward to the answers!

  9. I am sorry Chandni... I don't quite recall the English equivalent... but I am sure there is one.

A direct translation would read something like - "my cat purrs at me".. haha

  10. 2. Lakeer ka fakeer.
    10. Ab aaya oonth pahaad ke neeche.

    I thought 11th as:
Ek he thaili ke chatte batte.
    But
Ek anaar sau bimar is perfect.
